World champion Lewis Hamilton has dropped his strongest hint yet that he will finish his Formula 1 career with Mercedes. While Ferraris historic resonance proved an irresistible lure for Hamiltons long-time rival Sebastian Vettel 18 months ago when he engineered an early exit from Red Bull, the Englishman has drawn a different lesson from history to conclude his future should be with his present employers at Mercedes.I look at my team, the Silver Arrows, and think Im a part of this history which I will be for way beyond my time and I want to continue being a part of it. When I stop racing, I still want to be a part of it, Hamilton told Sky Sports F1 in an exclusive interview at Barcelona. Hamilton is in his fourth season with Mercedes after being persuaded in late 2012 to leave McLaren, the Mercedes-powered team for whom he had driven since boyhood, for an outfit which had previously won just one race in three years. What we wrote when Hamilton joined Mercedes: The potential winners and losers of Hamiltons transferThough considered a gamble at the time, Hamiltons decision has since proven to be one of the most inspired in motorsport history. While McLaren have failed to win a race since Hamiltons departure, their former protégé has flourished at Mercedes, ruthlessly exploiting the teams emergence as the sports dominant force to claim successive world championships to add to his 2008 title. Lewis Hamilton says he wont get involved in the blame game over who was responsible for his crash with team-mate Nico Rosberg in Spain Although Nico Rosberg and a deficit of 43 points still stands resolutely between Hamilton and the title summit this year, few are betting against the 31-year-old landing a fourth world championship in November.Little wonder, then, that Hamilton sees no reason to move - and every reason to stay. What I love about Mercedes when you look at Sir Stirling Moss, when you look at all drivers still today in their old age, they are still with Mercedes, youre with the brand for life, said Hamilton. They take you under your wing, they look after you, youre part of it forever. I cant imagine myself not being a part of that. Since Jenson Buttons 2009 title win, Hamilton and Vettel have won every F1 world championship. Yet, in a curious quirk of fate, F1s brightest stars over the last decade have stubbornly remained out of each others orbit. Neither has been runner-up to the other during any of their title-winning seasons and the remote possibility of Hamilton joining Vettel at Red Bull for the 2013 campaign was only fleetingly entertained before he signed for Mercedes.A vacancy is expected to emerge at Ferrari over the next 12 months with 36-year-old Kimi Raikkonen in the final year of his Scuderia deal. But with Hamilton already contracted to Mercedes for another two years and Vettel adamant that his attachment to Ferrari is a long-term commitment, there seems little chance that F1s pair of serial winners will ever go head-to-head as team-mates. But could Hamilton one day replace Vettel at Ferrari? Without a doubt when I grew up watching F1 I saw the red car, it looked awesome, mused Hamilton. A Ferrari, whether its a road car or an F1 car, look awesome. Theres something particularly very special with the Italian passion for that team. But Ive been with Mercedes since I was 13, more than most drivers at my age.I honestly dont, at the moment, look over at Sebastian in the Ferrari and think damn it I want his seat.Curiously, reports this week in Italy have claimed that Rosberg, out of contract at the end of the season, has opened talks with Ferrari over a potential transfer. The F1 gossip column Has Nico Rosberg opened talks with Ferrari? However, even after Hamilton and Rosbergs race-wrecking crash in Spain triggered fresh doubts about the long-term health of their partnership, the prospect of Rosberg voluntarily leaving Mercedes for a team currently struggling to stay ahead of Red Bull as the 2016 grids best of the rest seems remote. According to Sky Italys Antonio Boselli, the rumours are likely to be mischief making designed to destabilise the Silver Arrows. But one thing is for certain: Hamilton is in no mood to move home again. The match was the first for both teams in the inaugural Guinness International Champions Cup tournament, which features six other teams from Europe. Midfielder Angel Di Maria took a pass from former FIFA World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo, whod gotten past three defenders, and scored the games first goal. Di Maria later added an assist. "In general it was a good performance from the team," Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said. "We played well. We had a good combination in the front. We had a lot of opportunities." Real Madrid was too talented for the Galaxy, as Ronaldo had multiple chances to score early in the match. A cross from DiMaria found Ronaldo in the sixth minute, and his shot hit the top of the goal and caromed away. Ronaldo also had quality chances in the 18th and 22nd minute, Galaxy defender Sean Franklin trying his best to defend Ronaldo from his right back position. "Sean would probably tell you it was unbelievably challenging," Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said. "Ronaldo had all the attributes youd want out of a player. Technically outstanding. Hes obviously a great goal scorer. Great passing. Great on the dribble. Physically dominant. He has all the tools to continue to be one of the outstanding players in the world and we saw a little bit of that." Real Madrid had the vast majority of the scoring chances in the first half. The Galaxys best opportunity was a near own goal from Real Madrids Daniel Carvajal in the eighth minute. Galaxy midfielder Hector Jimenez chipped a ball toward the goal that Carvajal almost misplayed with his clearance. The fans in the crowd of 38,922 rose to their feet everry time Ronaldo touched the ball.dddddddddddd The Di Maria-Ronaldo connection almost produced another result in the 38th minute, as Ronaldo had plenty of time to settle a pass at his feet, dribble and shoot. But his shoot went over the goal. "The atmosphere was really fantastic and the stadium was one of the best in the world," Ancelotti said. "We will have a good memory of the experience in the future." Ronaldo left the match at halftime, replaced at forward by Benzema. It took the Frenchman only six minutes to score. Francisco Alarcon looped a pass to Benzema, who was in open space and shot the ball past Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe. Real Madrid was close to a third goal after some nifty dribbling and fakes from Alarcon at the top of the penalty area, but his 60th-minute shot was saved. Jose Villareal pulled the Galaxy to 2-1 with some skilful work in the 63rd minute. Seconds after Brazilian star Kaka left the match for a substitution, Villareal took two touches to get some room and fired a shot past Real Madrid keeper Diego Lopez. Alarcon was subbed out in the 73rd minute. Di Maria found Benzema in the 74th minute with a cross over the Galaxy defenders for the final goal of the match. Real Madrid is tuning up for the start of its regular season in Spain next month. The Galaxy are in the midst of their MLS regular season. "No question this game was beneficial for all of our players," Arena said. "I think its a great event to bring to our country and to have the opportunity to play against players like Ronaldo and Di Maria and Benzema. They are unbelievable players . we are going to have some fabulous opportunities in this tournament." The Galaxy play Juventus of Italy, with Real Madrid moving on to face Everton of England. Both games will be at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday. ' ' '
